ZAPP
No/low code app creation platform

ZAPP

Role

Lead Product Manager & UX Director for CMS and Client App

Product Description

Zapp of applicaster is a leading no/low code platform for app development in the media space. Big media companies can develop apps, change them on the fly, and easily maintain them. Zapp offers an open plugin environment, allowing exponential growth of capabilities on multiple platforms, enabling quick adaptation to the ever-changing market.

Responsibilities

  • Led the product from its early stage. Working closely with Zapp’s tech lead, we defined the roadmap, prioritized each new capability to be introduced, following the needs of Zapp stakeholders and the market.
  • Defined detailed product stories.
  • Designed the UX and UI of each feature, created design concepts and prototypes.
  • As a strong team player, I worked closely with the developers to identify challenges and plan applicable wins.
  • My inbound activity included a bi-monthly meeting with Zapp stakeholders, where I introduced new features.
  • In addition I Initiated the development of the Zapp app, an app for Zapp customers, where we announced new features and created an incentive to update their version. I've designed the app, and led an outsourced development team.

Achievements

App development time within the company has been reduced by half following my team and my work.

Following are a few examples of the product design concepts that I introduced or manifested:

Immediate Preview

The key principles of Zapp product design are modularity and simplicity. Simplicity is achieved and demonstrated here by allowing an immediate preview of the screen composition and design. (emulated content)

Single Configuration

Simplicity is key to each step of the app creation. It is achieved by allowing one single configuration for both portrait & landscape, on both iOS and Android.

Sandbox vs. Production

Multiple layouts per version allows a user to test different versions of her/his design. The 'Layouts' enabled a sandbox and production environment, where users defined on which version s/he is working on.

Zapp Marketplace

The Marketplace is a repository of all the plugins that can be configured in an app. They are ordered by categories such as Analytics plugins, Monetization plugins, CMS plugins, UI plugins and many more. Users of Zapp install and configure the plugins from the marketplace on to their app. Developers will be able to sell their own developed plugins via the marketplace. The Marketplace is showcasing the core of Zapp modularity, enabling growth by opening the platform to external developers, and offers vast flexibility by allowing a wide range of integrations via Zapp.

A product-led-growth approach: Ongoing feature announcements

Encouraging Zapp customers to update their apps and integrate new features are a business strategy. The Zapp app serves this strategy by showcasing the new developed features that are added to every new version of Zapp, as well as the specific Zapp version installed on the customer's site. Customers are inspired and encouraged to update their version, and offer their audience new features in an ongoing changing market. Communicating to customers the growing repository of features, integrations and updates available is key to applicaster.

Personal dashboard for our customers

The Zapp app is also a personal dashboard for each customer, summarizing the user-base activity per platform and version of the customer’s appThe customer using the Zapp platform has access to a personal dashboard, detailing daily user activity per platform and version. A call for action button, to update to a newer version, when existing, serves the sales force of the Zapp platform.
