Augmented software for live performances

PARA

Creative Director & Product Manager, Owner

PARA is a specialized software for real time control of moving images over live performers and shadows.

I developed it as part of a dance and media performance, ‘Solo Siento’.

PARA reached to be a Finalist in the Monaco Dance and Media Festival. 'Solo Siento' has performed worldwide, and the associated video piece I created for it, won 1st prize in Tel Aviv Video Dance Festival and was broadcasted on Spanish TV.

PARA was programmed by Eyal Zaidman. I co-created 'Solo Siento' with choreographer Arkadi Zaides.

Augmenting shadows

PARA Software integrates real time camera input and video or animation clips. Para enables real time projection of a chosen clip onto a screen, in a specific position, enabling a dialogue with the performers’ movement.

The software

The UI consists of a repository of clips, a live camera input preview of the stage, and a time based preview of the clip. The operator of the program triggers a clip in a certain location on the screen, guided by a red pointer, which signals where the clip will be triggered on to the screen.

Projection mapping

The projected image on the screen is mapped to the software camera preview.
